I travelled in a group of 4 (we had 2 balcony suites) on the repositioning cruise. We had a brilliant time. Whilst they were going to pick up more crew in Australia, the ship was by no means lacking in service with 3000 passengers on board.

Guests services, wait staff, shows - Fantastic. Ice Skating spectacular - Amazing (with guest appearance by Captain). Pool deck disco departing Darwin very festive-it felt like a party(encore)!

Drinks - tea, coffee, water (not bottled), milk, hot chocolate, lemonade (like the home made type, not the fizzy stuff) provided in cost of cruise. Complimentary juice provided at breakfast & also available on room service breakfast menu. Room service is free unless you order something between midnight & 5am - for a small charge.

If you would like "freshly squeezed" juice at breakfast it is approx $4.50 USD; as is a specialty coffee, or bottle of sparkling water, for around the same price in the restaurant. Ask the waiter for a regular cup of coffee - free.

In cabin is a kettle with complimentary tea bags & sugar sachets. I ordered milk from room service & received small tetra pack which I kept in bar fridge. Only thing lacking was coffee sachets in the cabin, so if you are addicted to coffee like I am, you might consider taking a small jar on board (you will need to leave it when you disembark as no food/drink is allowed off the ship). Hot Chocolate sachets are provided through room service, or you can pick up a few at the drink station in the Windjammer. There is a mini bar in your cabin (fees involved).

Took USA power adaptor onboard for cabin, to plug in mobile phone, camera battery charger etc. A universal adaptor is available for purchase at the duty free liquor store on the Promenade (where all the shops are), which also carries a small range of sweets, band aids, & other odds & ends.

Alcohol & other drinks
- Prior to boarding I bought my husband the Cola soft drink package, so he could drink it to his heart's content. Price worked out about $8.50 AUD per day. He received complimentary thermal drink container & had coca cola stamp on his cruise ID card. He would often get his coke, then go to the bar & order a bourbon, then just mix the two together. Value for money in his book.

- also prior to boarding I purchased a "Grand Romance Package" for $200 AUD. Best money I ever spent. Upon arrival the package provides a bottle of Vive Cliquot champagne (the same bottle retailed for $85 USD in the duty free shop on board). Also included: Rose bouquet; breakfast in bed one morning including (if you so chooose) bloody mary &/or mimosa (both alcoholic); complimentary photo in silver frame (photo alone was worth $25 USD), 2 x waffle bath robes; 3 x tray canapes (one on arrival & on two formal occasions); & petite fours for two - on two formal occasions

- unfortunately they had no duty free bourbon available to purchase, & stock seemed quite limited in range. However, you are permitted to take your duty free allowance (spirits) with you prior to boarding, which must be handed over when you go through the security checks; it will be kept in safe keeping to be returned to you on the night prior to your scheduled departure.

- You are permitted to take on board 2 x 750mL bottles of wine per cabin (not per person) for personal consumption.

- prior to sailing you can also purchase online bottles of wine - to be either delivered to your stateroom or your table in the dining room. Look up www.royalcarribean.com.au then from the toolbar select "deals & gifts" / "shop gifts" / "wine cellar" - for alcohol that can be pre-purchased in $aud prior to the cruise. For a few dollars extra you can pre-order with cheese or a fruit basket delivered in a wrought-iron basket for you to keep. I am the proud owner of two baskets from this voyage.

- each night you will receive a "cruise compass" which tells you what the cocktail of the next day will be. The drink retails for about $8.50 USD & comes in a patterned glass which is yours to keep.

- most days on the pool deck, a long trestle table will be set up where you can purchase 'Rum Punch' in a triangle shape patterned glass for about $5.00 USD & is yours to keep.

- the cost of the drinks are in USD & have the gratuity built into the price, however I donít think a lot of people realised this, & guests basically provided an additional "bonus" gratuity over & above the price of the drink not realising they had already paid a gratuity.

Public areas too small for nightly singalongs.

The best idea with your cruise is to choose your times for eating & doing activities. The idea is to relax & enjoy yourselves. We never had to deal with any queues, we had the late seating for dining, & as we dont like to get sunburnt, we made the most of the opportunity to play put put golf, ping pong & basketball after dinner. You can always sleep in the next morning or get breakfast delivered to your cabin - why bother getting up :)
